Michael Smith is through to Round 2 of the World Championship in a cracking game with the irish debutant Steve Lennon who impressed on his debut at the Alexandra Palace after having a cracking year which got him the spot at the prestigious championship.
After being on the verge of defeat at 2-1 down, Lennon showed grit and determination to battle down to take it to a decider. Smith though didn't have any more problems of it and closed it out after making a bit of a mess out of it originally winning the final set 3-1. The St Helens ace got the most 180's with 10 and a high out of 150.
He will play Rob Cross and with averaging just 93 he will be aiming to play better to push 'Voltage' in Round 2.
