Michael van Gerwen 'really glad' to win third successive World Series Finals title

Michael van Gerwen capped off another great weekend by winning yet another TV title and this time it was a third successive one in the form of the World Series of Darts Finals in Glasgow. He defeated home favourite Gary Anderson 11-6 in the final and spoke afterwards about his joy of winning another title but also spoke about his opponent and how he has to play to his best to get a result.
"I'm really glad that I won this trophy again," said Van Gerwen. "Gary always makes you work hard and you know what you're going to get from him.
"Winning the first leg, when he missed three darts at a double, gave me confidence from the beginning and from there my finishing and scoring power was there at the right moments."
"Every tournament is special and this is fantastic," he added. "Around this period you want to perform close to your best and I want to win every tournament.
"I have that extra gear when I have to and you always have to believe in yourself. I always want to perform and you always need to be hungry, otherwise you can't win."

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
