Mickey Mansell wins first PDC ranking title defeating Adrian Lewis to win Players Championship Eight

Mickey Mansell is a PDC ranking event winner for the first time defeating Adrian Lewis to claim Players Championship Eight in a landmark moment for the Clonoe Cyclone.
He dropped just 11 legs in the process smashing the likes of Kim Huybrechts and Robert Thornton as well as claiming wins against the likes of Gerwyn Price and Josh Payne on his way to the title.
The run came from nowhere for Mansell who went out in the first round yesterday and reached the latter stages of one of the qualifiers on Friday.
In the 6-4 win he averaged 97.9 to Lewis's 90 in probably the best moment of the Northern Irishman's career in the PDC so far.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
