Nicholson returns on European Tour with victory, Van den Bergh edges out O'Connor

Paul Nicholson made a successful return to the European Tour. The former major winner beat Nathan Aspinall 6-2 to reach the second round of the German Darts Open.

Dimitri van den Bergh qualified for the last 32 round after a fine 6-3 victory over William O'Connor. The Belgian hit three ton plus finishes to defeat the Irishman. Max Hopp moved into the second round after beating Zoran Lerchbacher 6-1, while averaging 99.49.
