Six of the eight seeds are still in the mix - though the two non-seeds have plenty of pedigree. Seven players are keen to steal Daryl Gurney's crown. One is Gurney himself, the reigning
World Grand Prix champion, looking to win once again. The
PDC's next major is another step closer to being resolved. First up is a meeting between the two players who suffered relegation in the Premier League. Gerwyn Price had a terrible time of it. Mensur Suljovic retained more hope, yet suffered the same fate. Both have the potential to reach the top, and this would be a big step. The Gentle was merciless against Ian White, checking in and out with around two-thirds of his attempts - he'll be the big favourite here. Peter Wright can also expect to have the odds in his favour. As the second seed, he's the most likely in his half of the draw to reach the final. On paper, at least. On paper, James Wilson was likely to lose to Simon Whitlock and Adrian Lewis. But the Lethal Biscuit killed off both of them. Another giant-killing is not beyond the only one of the eight making his first major PDC quarter-final (unless the European Championships count. But let's not get into that right now.) Daryl Gurney is the reigning and defending Grand Prix champion. Gary Anderson is the UK Open, World Matchplay and Champions League champion. This is definitely the most star-studded of the quarter-finals. Neither has been hugely tested yet, but there'll be no hiding in this Dublin duel. Anderson wants to add the Grand Slam to his glittering array of PDC titles. Gurney won't let go of his first major trophy that quickly though. Plenty have been questioning Michael van Gerwen's attitude, form and fear factor. There's only one way to shut them up - winning. Even then, van Gerwen seems to be under a very unique scrutiny. He has to win in style to please everyone. But pleasing people isn't the Dutchman's aim. Dave Chisnall was excellent in thrashing Raymond van Barneveld, but he may need to take it up a notch here. for more information about the World Grand Prix.
