The Players Championship Finals comes to a conclusion today and it could see another final between
Rob Cross and
Michael van Gerwen.
Rob Cross continues his quest though to win his first major first against
James Wade in the afternoon session and if yesterday was anything to go by, 'Voltage' could be in for a tough game with 'The Machine' playing some of the best darts he has played in a while with his top class finishing returning and hopefully it will live up to the billing.
Steve Beaton a winner on the Players Championship circuit this year is next up against another winner in
Jonny Clayton. Both men have a golden opportunity to reach a semi-final with Clayton it being a first and something he is worthy of doing. He will be the favourite to win due to Beaton not really pulling up any trees in his victories but if 'The Bronzed Adonis' turns up and rolls back the years it could be the match of the day.
Daryl Gurney then takes on
Justin Pipe. Gurney played well last night in his win against Chris Dobey which is compared to Justin Pipe who's tenacious attitude has seen him scrape past Ron Meulenkamp and William O'Connor yesterday to set up his first Quarter-Final in a long time against a man who can't stop reaching them.
The final game of the session is an all-Dutch affair or some would say Double Dutch. This is between Michael van Gerwen and Jan Dekker. Van Gerwen should easily get through to the semi-finals but Dekker's finishing could still pinch him a few legs in his first major quarter-final if MVG goes off the boil so it could in theory be close at points.
