Prize Fund for PDC World Darts Championship increased further to £2.5 million pounds

In some more news released by the PDC, the World Championship has not only been expanded in terms of it's player base but also it's prize money once again. It will rise to an astonishing £500,000 to the winner with £2.5m overall up for grabs.

This is a steady rise of the prize fund year on year that the PDC have been doing; and means that there will be more competition to get one of the 96 places. This field has been expanded to give more players from different countries; as well as different genders in the form of 2 female spots the opportunity to play in the World Darts Championship.
Last year it was £400,000 to the winner meaning a rise of £100,000; with the runner up collected £170,000 which has now risen to £200,000. It has been decreased in terms of those who go out early but has been massively increased for those who go far.
This overall shows the rise of darts from Barry Hearn and the PDC isn't stopping and the opportunities have massively increased with the announcement released today.
