The fifth match was one of the matches of the night on paper between Raymond van Barneveld and Kyle Anderson with the winner facing off against Steve Beaton in Round 2 and the man who will face 'The Bronzed Adonis' is Barney who defeated Kyle Anderson 2-0 in sets.
Kyle Anderson started proceedings very well, 'The Original' took out a 103 and then tops to get to 2-0 up but Barney wasn't going to give up a set that easily and he broke the Anderson throw pinning D10. Also he then got back on level terms to make it 2-2.
Anderson squandered two set darts and Barney hit tops for the first set after being 2-0 down. He missed double in darts when they returned and Raymond hit a 76 checkout to take the lead in set 2. Anderson made no mistake in leg 2 though taking out 102.
Barney followed it up in the next leg by following up a 165 with tops to go one away at 2-1. Kyle forced it into a decider picking out tops.
This didn't matter as the 2x runner up finished off 100 to win 2-0 in sets and get through.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
