James Richardson reached the third round of the
PDC World Darts Championship for the first time in his career as the Northamptonshire ace beat
Alan Norris 4-1 in sets.
It was a game that won’t live forever in the memory of most fans. The pair both averaging below 90. The duo traded sets on throw in the early encounters.
The second set came in five holds for Norris after Richardson had taken the first set. 'Ruthless' missed eleven darts to take the third set, but 'Chuck' could not take advantage of that, as he missed a dart at double 12. Richardson won the set before helping himself to set four as well.
Richardson then also missed eight matchdarts in the fifth set, but again Norris failed to punish him. Richardson eventually took the set and the match via double five.
The Englishman, whilst not prolific, showing his ruthlessness with his timing throughout the match. Richardson will now face Peter Wright or Jamie Lewis in the next round
