Van Gerwen was facing off against Cody Harris, New Zealand’s Number One who could have given him a real game but he was out to send a statement.
He smashed ‘Code Star’ in around 14 minutes as he hit a 102 average and he will face Anderson who admitted MVG last week could be on a losing streak.
Anderson was quality as well but was pushed seriously by Tim Pusey, who was interviewed yesterday on
Dartsnews.com ahead of this clash. Barring a few slack darts at a double it could have been more than the 6-3 scoreline.
Highlights for the young Aussie included a 100 and 119 checkout in the three legs he claimed but it’s the newly crowned World Matchplay champion who is through.
