The final day of the
European Championship is coming up from 12:45pm today and some of the world's best are still involved in Hasselt.
Michael van Gerwen continues his campaign for another European Championship and his fifth major title of the year after previous successes in the Masters, World Cup of Darts, Premier League and World Championship despite him not having the most stellar year losing in a few majors early doors.
He faces off against
Simon Whitlock who has staked his claim to be back with the world's elite climbing back up the rankings and reaching a major final this year as a result. It could either be domination for van Gerwen in this one or a close encounter which if Whitlock wins blows the tournament wide open.
Kyle Anderson faces off against
Mensur Suljovic in a battle of two stablemates and two of the rising stars of
PDC darts with both winning TV titles this year with the Auckland Darts Masters and Champions League of Darts respectively.
Also
Peter Wright who got out of jail last night against Jonny Clayton is in action and if he's not in good form his opponent could pounce all over the chance to reach another major semi final and that is
Daryl Gurney, the recent World Grand Prix champion who is now also chasing Wright's spot in the rankings after surpassing Adrian Lewis for the number 4 spot with his win over Stephen Bunting last night.
Rob Cross vs
Michael Smith ends it off with two of the best in terms of up and coming talent taking on each other, Cross may be a lot of people's tip but it is his first major quarter-final in a year of firsts for the former electrician and he takes on Michael Smith who is finally returning to form and is someone who importantly has been at this stage before. Expect a very good game.
