Seigo Asada through to play Rob Cross in Round 1 after winning preliminary tie with Gordon Mathers

Seigo Asada is through to the first round of the World Championship. 'The Ninja' survived going a set down and the game going to a sudden death shootout to hold his nerve and knock out the Australian DPA qualifier Gordon Mathers.
Asada is the more experienced of the two having played at Lakeside previously but Mathers despite in the sudden death leg going off the boil didn't really show nerves and sweeped up the first set and the game was full of high scoring in an entertaining opener and Asada could easily give Rob Cross something to think about later on tonight.
