Smith averaged 98 on his way to a 7-4 win over the Dutch legend in the end. Barney started the match off well going 3-1 up with a 96 average pinning double 16 to take the game to ‘Bully Boy’.
He hit consecutive legs to go to 3-3 with a break as he started to claw it back. It ended up going to four-all with the game finely poised but Smith went up a gear and made sure of a point with a 12 darter. Finally he claimed the win and successfully got through the pain barrier to add two points.
