Wade was sensational against Mighty Mike and took away his unbeaten record in the Premier League so far. Van Gerwen was punished for his doubles with only 27 percent and a 94 average. This allowed the Aldershot ace to reel off five legs in a row for the win.
It started off quite neck and neck with Van Gerwen seemingly taking the upper hand in the early going with a 124 checkout to take a 3-2 lead. The double problems started to show though with him missing three darts at double allowing Wade to hit his trademark double ten.
From there, he strengthened his grip on the match going 5-3 up. He confirmed a point with a 121 checkout to go within one of a win as well. Wade ended it off with missing 116 for the win before hitting double 18 to take the shock win.
