Darius Labanauskas came from behind in the second game of the evening session to see off ‘Prime Time’ Matthew Edgar.

The former Lakeside Quarter-Finalist on debut lost the first set mainly due to missed doubles but from there he started to find his range. He ended up with a three-one victory in sets to set up a clash with Raymond van Barneveld on Monday night. Along the way, he hit three 180’s and a 93.5 average in an overall great performance. Neither player really played to their capabilities in the first set but it was Edgar who seized the initiative. In the final leg of the set, Darius missed an astonishing fifteen darts at doubles and despite double trouble of his own, Edgar pinned double two to go one up. When he did he lived up to his Prime Time nickname giving it the big one to the crowd. Labanauskas though put the missed doubles behind him to reel three legs on the spin for parity in set two. This left the match finely poised going into the next set with Darius in particular starting to find his range. Labanauskas continued his charge winning the next set three-one to go 2-1 up overall. This is despite just 23% on the doubles from ‘Lucky D’ but an average of around 100 compared to 80 in the set meant this wasn’t really an issue. He begun the next set by going two-nil up with ease including a brilliant 13-darter. The Lithuanian completed the job with a double eight to turn the match round superbly and show his experience. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
