Smith tops averages after first Players Championship weekend ahead of Wright and Price

The top averages have been released from the first weekend of Players Championship action with Michael Smith topping the list with an average of 111.99.
Following Smith was Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price; who both averaged mid 110's which is 110.49 and 110.33. Michael van Gerwen hit four out of the top 15 averages with his worst effort in that being 107.85.
Maik Kuivenhoven, a new Tour Card holder hit the final effort in the list with 106 showing the real strength of the PDC tour. Not only that but the cutthroat nature that if you can't compete with the high averages, you won't win.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
