Simon Whitlock is returning to the higher echelons of the game after being in the darting doldrums for some time and due to his good form in the past 18 months including tournament wins and a major final in the form of the World Grand Prix, 'The Wizard' has been touted for the Premier League next year and he has even said that he'd be pretty disappointed not to get in. He admits though it all depends on this tournament with Darren Webster the next task for the Australian and it won't be easy for him as he lost to the Norwich man 4-0 last year but he performed ok against Martin Schindler despite having the flu and so could be confident ahead of that second round clash. “I think it all depends on this tournament. I need to go deep in this. If they’re not looking at me I don’t know why not, I mean I’ve had a great last 18 months. In a lot of tournaments I’ve lost to Van Gerwen when I’ve been playing well, like semi’s and quarter-finals in European events and TV events. I’d be pretty disappointed if I didn’t get in.”
