UK Open Qualifying 2 results, Last 16: Red hot Van Gerwen eases through & Wright ends Hughes' charge

Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright are among the players through to the Quarter-Finals at UK Open Qualifier 2 in Wigan. Van Gerwen who is aiming to do a double header of tournament wins this weekend beat Ricky Evans who didn't stand a chance against the red hot MVG.

Wright ended Jamie Hughes' charge with a 6-3 win as the former BDO star just missed out on his first PDC Quarter-Final. Also Ian White came through a close game with Daryl Gurney hitting a 9-darter in the deciding leg.
Also through is Richard North who will take on 'Mighty Mike' in the Quarter-Finals and there were also wins for Krzysztof Ratajski, Mervyn King, Darren Webster and Justin Pipe.
This shows the strength of the seeds with a lot of the big names still in the running in Wigan.
