Michael van Gerwen is the fourth man in the semi finals of the Players Championship Finals. The Dutchman overcame his countryman Jan Dekker 10-7.
'Mighty Mike' made an whirlwind-start of the match as he opened with a 10-dart leg and moved into a 4-1 lead while averaging 121. However, Dekker took out 102 and 100 to hit back and level the match at 4-4. The former Lakeside semi-finalist denied a 6-4 deficit as well, before levelling the match at 7-7 in the fourteenth leg.
The world-number-one fired in a 128 check-out for 12-darter to take the lead once again, before breaking his opponent's throw for a third time: 9-7. Van Gerwen didn't fail in his own leg and claimed victory by hitting double 14 in seventeenth leg.
The reigning world champion will take on Justin Pipe in the semi finals, as 'The Force' beat Daryl Gurney earlier on the day. Rob Cross meets Jonny Clayton in the first semi final.
