Van Barneveld was 5-1 down but his never say die attitude was evident as he claimed a point to end the night.
Suljovic made a solid start going 2-0 up against the Dutchman and Barney’s only leg came when he went 3-1 down. He ended up hitting the lesser used double 17 but that was as good as it got in the early going.
Suljovic costed further clear at 5-1 up with a brilliant double fourteen his known favourite. Van Barneveld though closed the gap and reeled off four straight legs to make it 5-5.
‘The Gentle’ stopped the rot to claim a point but couldn’t claim the win in the end with Barney showing why you should never count him out.
