Van Gerwen after claiming fifth straight Masters title: ‘This is a tournament I love so I am delighted’

Michael van Gerwen is five time Masters Champion after seeing off James Wade in the final.
Van Gerwen spoke to the PDC afterwards and said that it’s a tournament he loves so he’s delighted. "I'm really pleased," said Van Gerwen. "It's a great venue for me and this is a tournament I love, so I'm delighted. "I didn't play phenomenally in this tournament and there's more in the tank, but I'm hoping this is going to be the start of another good year. "The tour gets more difficult every year and I'm trying to get better all the time. You want to be strong here to start the year well and give yourself confidence, and I've done that." He added: "James did well to reach the final. He deserves a lot of credit because I think a lot of people underestimate him." to check out the tournament centre for the Masters.

- Is this the start of an attempt to say that he (Littler) is the best ever as he has won most money. Perhaps adjust all prize money earned by allowing for inflation. If Littler gets close too (does not even have to overtake) both MVG’s and Taylor’s Major titles total then he is in the conversation. - It is shocking and unbelievable that 2 Hotty who was always such a decent player, 2 time World Champion and won the Grand Slam when it meant something. He really should have joined the PDC earlier.
