The 29-year-old didn't even have to show his best game, as he averaged 94. However Cross came too short on his scoring power and only averaged 89.
Van Gerwen broke his throw twice with a 13-dart leg and stormed into a 4-0 lead, before Cross hit back with a 140 checkout. However the Dutchman bounced back with three legs on the spin to move into his third German Darts Grand Prix final.
The three-time world champion faces the winner of the match between Simon Whitlock and Max Hopp in the final on Monday evening.
