Michael van Gerwen is through to the Quarter-Finals at the German Darts Open in Saarbrucken but was made to work for it. He had to reel off four consecutive legs to see off Alan Tabern.

At 4-2 up, 'The Saint' would have been buoyant of his chances of seeing off 'Mighty Mike' but multiple mid range finishes were enough for Van Gerwen to see him off.
He will face Ian White tonight in the Quarter-Finals who saw off Dave Chisnall. He completed a 6-0 demolition of the St Helens ace with a 106 average and 60% on the doubles. This means he will be buoyant of his chances of giving the World Number One a real game.
