Michael van Gerwen has put his World Grand Prix early exit nightmare behind him and is through to Round 2 of the European Championship. He is after a 4th defence of his crown in Hasselt and started it off with a 6-2 win over fellow countryman Jan Dekker with a 96 average.
"It's a good start for me," said Van Gerwen, who averaged 96 as he set up a second round tie on Friday night with Ian White. 'The Diamond' defeated Darren Webster after a legdecider on the opening night.
"I was a little bit slow at the start but I got into my rhythm, and I can look forward to the second round now. It's a longer format, which suits my game."
