Van Gerwen thrashes Wright to move back to the summit of the Premier League

Michael van Gerwen has continued to show why he is still the best in the world with a brilliant display to see off Peter Wright in Rotterdam.
Playing in front of his home crowd, Mighty Mike produced the goods with a 7-1 win.
Van Gerwen started off brilliantly taking out 116 to go 2-0 up over ‘Snakebite’.
The difference between the pair was in the averages with MVG averaging 105 to Wright’s 81 and this showed.
He went up to 5-0 in double quick time with a whitewash definitely not out of the question.
He got at least a point though with him going 6-0 up and Wright could only muster one leg on his way to the defeat from there.

- Congratulations Zehra, an excellent performance, 3-0 was harsh on Rebecca, she played well and actually won a decent trophy better than what Zehra won. I think it is extremely poor and insulting that the girls prize money is half of what the boys win. At that level it should be equal, girls wanting to take up darts will see the injustice of winnings and could think twice about taking up the sport. Ultimately, winning is the only thing that matters, but I would be vocal about prize money if the female equivalent was double the amount.richieburnettrocks08-12-2025
