The former Lakeside champion and PDC mainstay didn't do enough to qualify for his tenth World Championship since his switch from the BDO. But Webster is at the Ally Pally, working for Sky Sports as a pundit and commentator. "It's 13 years I've been in World Championships. So it's a bit strange not being involved," Webby told . "But ultimately I've not been good enough this year. It's been hard, but thankfully I can still be involved in some capacity."
Webster has attracted praise for his gantry work. But he isn't planning to put down the darts for good in favour of a mic any time soon.
"Definitely," said the Welshman when asked if he'd carry on playing.
"The aim for next year is to retain my Tour Card, which will be difficult. I never envisaged it coming to this a few years back.
"I've struggled a bit with the dartitis, which I've rectified. In that period, I lost confidence.
"I need some resolve just to give myself some confidence, and I'll go from there."
"I don't think I picked up a win on the Pro Tour until late April," Webster pointed out, identifying a struggle to start well in the 2018 season. "A lot of tournaments had happened by then. I've got to get some wins to get the ball rolling. "When you're chasing, panic sets in. I was putting too much pressure on myself, and it was so detrimental to me."
