Daryl Gurney produced the performance of the
Perth Darts Masters so far as he and
James Wade both triumphed without dropping a single leg.
Gurney hit an average of 106.09 in whitewashing Koha Kokiri from New Zealand. 'Superchin' took out 96 in the first leg, and followed it up with six perfect darts. The nine darter was not to be, but Gurney wouldn't miss much during the entire match as he took out further strong finishes of 100, 80, 68, 64 in legs two to five. The Northern Irishman had not missed a dart at a double at that point, and looked to keep it that way as he stepped up to take out 130 for the match. The bullseye saw him keep that perfect record of 100% as he completed a very impressive 6-0 win.
Wade also booked a 6-0 victory against Darren Hayes, although it came with somewhat less impressive statistics. A scrappy first leg was taken by 'The Machine' in 20 darts, which would prove to be the worst leg of the match as the multiple major winner found his stride. Two 180's and some nice finishes, including 72 and 103 for the match, marked a solid victory. Hayes struggled to find his scoring power throughout the entire match, only hitting six scores over a ton. He averaged a mere 63.2 on what was his television debut.
