Wright aiming for success in PDC Home Tour: “I could be the only ever World Champion and lockdown ‘At Home’ World Champion in the same year”

Peter Wright is the star name in the first four days of action in the PDC Home Tour which begins on Friday and sees four players a night play it out for a spot in the next round.
Wright will play on the opening night against Peter Jacques, Jamie Lewis and Niels Zonneveld and speaking to Colossus Bets, he admitted it’s going to be interesting to see how it all pans out and that he is aiming for a successful run.
“We are stepping into the unknown. It’s definitely going to very different that’s for sure.”
“I think it’s really good that we get to do something competitive during this crisis. I’ve been practising with Dimitri van den Bergh but this should be even more interesting. I don’t think anyone really knows how it’s going to go. But we’ll do our best to put on a show and make it interesting.”
“Of course I want to win it. No player enters into any competition anywhere without wanting to win it. It would be nice to win a unique tournament. Let’s hope we don’t have to have another lockdown ever again, so this event would be a one-off. I could be the only ever World Champion and lockdown ‘At Home’ World Champion in the same year”
“Obviously we’ll just see how it goes. Sometimes you find that an unlikely player settles into a different tournament set-up like this. A new star might even be born.”
“Perhaps the biggest question is whether I’ll get my hair done for ‘At Home’ darts. People will have to watch to find out!”

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). Taylor and MVG are two prime examples of professionals who are able to cope with the crowds mentally and not take it personally. This is not just an English crowd problem, FFS.MrYnyslas197116-11-2024
- Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
