Nijman once again played brilliantly all night but had his dominance threatened by Scott Mitchell who produced a comeback win to deny him a perfect series.
Martin Adams was his nearest rival and he moved onto six points from a possible eight in defeating Ritchie Edhouse who himself had one of his best nights to date in the competition but he knew that if Nijman won, he would take another group win.
The Dutchman was facing his compatriot Raymond van Barneveld who has been under par all evening but he produced the goods for the last game keeping with the Development Tour winner throughout. This included a 111 checkout to make it 3-3 and even though Nijman hit a 14 darter to go on the verge at 4-4.
Van Barneveld returned after Nijman missed a match darts to force a decider. If Barney would have won, it would have handed the group win to Adams but in the end, the latter produced in the final leg to squeeze through. He only won though due to head to head record only and so 'Wolfie' was very unlucky not to claim his first win of the week.
