Wright and Van Gerwen ease into second round with wins over Alcinas and Edgar

Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen have eased through to Round Two with wins over Toni Alcinas and Matthew Edgar respectively.

Wright wasn’t at his usual best but he didn’t need to be against Alcinas. He averaged 89 in a 6-2 victory for ‘Snakebite’ who averted a potential banana skin in the Spaniard. Proficiency was shown on the doubles though with him hitting 60% of them in his victory. Van Gerwen similarly didn’t need to be at his best in his win over Matthew Edgar. Mighty Mike smashed ‘Prime Time’ 6-1 in the end with a 102 average and the highlight was a 100 checkout using two double tops. There were wins for James Wilson and Danny Noppert on stage two.
