Smith whitewashes Van der Voort and Dobey, Webster and Beaton win to compete first round in Minehead

Smith whitewashed Vincent van der Voort in a brilliant display from ‘Bully Boy’ on the last game on the main stage. He hit a 98 average and had a 50% checkout rate as well.
Stage Two was rounded off with wins for Chris Dobey, Darren Webster and Steve Beaton. Dobey eased through against Ron Meulenkamp in a 6-3 win with a 93 average for ‘Hollywood’.
Webster came from 2-0 down to see off Jeffrey de Graaf in a 6-3 victory for ‘Demolition Man’. Then it was a deciding leg win for Beaton who defeated Kim Huybrechts. Beaton was left on double 2 and finished the job off with ‘The Hurricane’ left on 50.
