Darts on ITV is set to have a shake up in the presenting and commentary roles, with the former regulars getting moved along for a fresh faced crew. One of them is Gabbie Partington who will be taking Jacqui Oatley's place as host.
She will not have to wait long for her first experience with an ITV microphone in her hand, with the
Bahrain Darts Masters swiftly approaching, taking place from January 15-16. ITV broadcast a whole host of events ranging from all the World Series evets including the finals, the Winmau World Masters, UK Open, European Championship and Players Championship Finals.
The first two come in Bahrain with the inaugural Saudi Darts Masters following close behind. Partington will be on hosting duties accompanied by Mark Webster, one of the survivors from the prior team. She will be in the Middle East working, but not in Milton Keynes for the Masters.
Friends with well-known presenter Laura Woods, Partington has a history of covering sports including golf. Her darts experience has varied from interviewing fans at Ally Pally to jeering the crowd up as a sort of MC. She has also been the Master of Ceremonies on the World Snooker Tour, while working with other companies such as talkSPORT.
She has some huge shoes to fill in, with Oatley leading the coverage on ITV for a decade, with other presenters and commentators also there for that period of time covering the biggest darting events in the world.
This shake-up has come from Matchroom taking over the production company, with them now able to choose who will be on TV's around the world. It was an
emotional farewell from the team at the recent Players Championship Finals, where Luke Littler stole the show by winning yet another major title enroute to regaining his PDC World Darts Championship trophy.
