Raymond van Barneveld is in serious need of a change of fortunes on the oche. While his recent woes continue, away from it he has received a huge boost after joining Invictus Darts management as a player, legend and ambassador.
The five-time world champion joins fellow darters such as Jurjen Van der Velde, Archie Self and Tyler Thorpe in names being managed by the group. On the face of it, this looks to be a really positive move for 'Barney' fans.
This could be a sign of intention that he is not going anywhere in the sport, determined to keep on challenging for the big titles and to be among the elite once more. Other signs also include his
permanent move to the UK to lessen travelling around.
“I am delighted and very excited to have joined Invictus Darts Management," he wrote on
X. “They are committed to providing the very best support any Dart player could ask for, and I am looking forward to working with them for many years to come.”
Invictus were also excited for this partnership to start with the 59-year-old as they posted a video around it. “We’re incredibly proud to welcome @RayBar180 to Invictus Darts Management. A giant of the sport and a true gentleman, Raymond joins Team Invictus as Player, Legend & Ambassador. Welcome, Raymond.”

This is a significant move for van Barneveld. He can put his name alongside some other top sportsman. This includes former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney who is also a part of the ‘Triple S Group’, a group which owns Invictus Darts Management.
Rooney, who is currently doing punditry work for the ongoing World Cup, took the time out of his busy schedule to send the Dutchman a welcoming message. “Welcome to Triple S Group mate.”
This is a chance for a fresh start for the darting legend whose best days seem well behind him. He has struggled in recent times to find the level to compete with the top players. Early exits have become the norm and he is in serious danger of not qualifying for the Players Championship Finals and even the PDC World Darts Championship.
This would be a bitter blow with the World Matchplay and most likely the World Grand Prix and European Championship out of reach in this moment in time. As he tries and finds his feet on the oche, he has a whole new management team behind him supporting and motivating him to keep ploughing on.
