Adam Sevada continues to impress at the Championship Darts Corporation (CDC). Last weekend, the 39-year-old American made history in Chicago by capturing his fourth title in a row and continuing his lead in the 2025 CDC rankings.
After his double triumph in Ontario last month, Sevada also started at full speed in Chicago. At the fifth CDC tournament of the season, he had to go deep against Jim Long in the final. The Canadian worked off a 5-1 deficit and forced a deciding leg, but in the end Sevada still prevailed 7-6.
Before that, he had already survived two other tough duels. In the quarterfinals, he defeated David Cameron by the smallest possible difference, followed by a win over routinier Gary Mawson in the semifinals.
On Sunday, Sevada confirmed his dominance with another title at the sixth tournament of the season. In an exciting final, he was able to hold off Doug Boehm and secure his fourth consecutive CDC victory. En route to the final match, he eliminated Ram Guevara Jr. (7-5), among others, and also saw off Jason Brandon.
His winning streak of 28 matches finally came to an end in the semifinals of the seventh event. There he lost to Gary Mawson. Yet it was not Mawson but Stowe Buntz who got to write the final chord in Chicago. The former Grand Slam quarterfinalist left no doubt in the final and outlasted Mawson 7-3. On his way to the title, Buntz threw impressive finishes of 95, 100 and 144, capturing his seventh CDC ProTour title.
With seven of the 12 scheduled tournaments behind him, Adam Sevada leads the CDC Order of Merit convincingly. Stowe Buntz follows at some distance as number two, while Leonard Gates, winner of the CDC Cross-Border Challenge, is tentatively third.
Next month, the CDC circuit heads to Indiana, where Events 8 through 10 are scheduled from August 1 through 3. Through the CDC rankings, three starting spots for the World Darts Championship are up for grabs. The best American and Canadian will receive a World Championship spot, as will the next highest-ranked player.
