Aden Kirk takes Challenge Tour 5 title

The final Challenge Tour tournament of the weekend was won on Sunday afternoon by Aden Kirk. For the Englishman, it is his first Challenge Tour title, although he did manage to win a Development Tour tournament in 2016.

Kirk kept two Dutchmen from winning in the final stages of the tournament. After beating Scott Mitchell (5-4), Connor Scutt (5-4) and Andy Hamilton (5-4), among others, 'Captain' was too strong for Wesley Plaisier in the semifinals, 5-3. Then in the final, Kirk won 5-3 over Danny Jansen, who was in his third final of the weekend.

Kirk is best known for his participation in the 2014 UK Open. After beating Gerwyn Price, he also defeated then-reigning world champion Phil Taylor. To top it off, Kirk also recorded a victory over Peter Wright, before Brendan Dolan put an end to Kirk's fairy tale in the fifth round.
