Devon Petersen was active on the PDC Pro Tour for many years, but he lost his Tour Card early this year. Since then, he has also continued his punditry/commentary roles and he was left surprised by how much the level has risen in the last year. He also notes the increased competition at the top.

Petersen, a former semi-finalist at the European Championship (2020), has known the current top players for years.
"I've seen Luke come up, Humphries and Littler. I've seen through the JDC and interacted with him a few times at exhibitions. He had the tenacity, the confidence, the arrogance and you say arrogance but in this sport as an individual sport, you need to have it,' said Petersen on Love The Darts.
‘The African Warrior’ also notes that the overall level in the PDC has risen tremendously in the last year and jested it was as if there is an AI plugin helping them all be better.
"Luke Humphries the same. Just looking at how the players are playing on the tour, it seems like there is a massive shift to the accuracy level. I don't know if it's because of the competition of the tour, constant competition at a high level. There's not one person dominating. It's not the same person winning back-to-back like when MVG was dominating."
"I think the last year is almost as if there was a ChatGPT plugin to make everybody 100 times better than they were before."
