Last week, PDC Q-School 2025 played out in Milton Keynes and Kalkar as over 800 players fought for the right to claim a PDC Tour Card. In the modern darting world though, the PDC is increasingly not the be-all and end-all that it used be for darters, as seen by the earning of some of the top non-Tour Card holders in 2024.
According to information secured by "Addicks fan" on The Darts Forum, the top earning non-PDC Tour Card holder in 2024 was Connor Scutt. 'The Sniper' impressed on the MODUS Super Series and the Challenge Tour, earning opportunities on the Pro Tour through this route and eventually qualifying for both the Players Championship Finals in Minehead and the PDC World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace, earning a grand total of £109,245 in the process. In 2025, Scutt has himself a Tour Card, so it will be interesting to see if he earns as much in the coming season.
Other big earners from 2024 include women's world champion Beau Greaves. Greaves was unsuccessful in her Q-School quest in Milton Keynes last week, but if she can replicate the kind of year she had in 2024, that won't be a big issue for 'Beau n Arrow'. Due to her performances on the WDF, Women's Series and the Development Tour, Greaves earned £99,490.
Dutchman Wesley Plaisier also neared the £100k mark, earning £95,310 in 2024, but like Scutt, will be joining the PDC Pro Tour full time in 2025. Completing the top five of non-PDC Tour Card holders last year are a pair of world champions. Seniors world champion John Henderson brought home £76,845, whilst Lakeside champion Shane McGuirk £62,730.
With the PDC more and more leaning towards protecting the status of the top-16 players, as seen by the controversial changes to the European Tour recently, life for those lower down the PDC rankings may now be being overtaken by life at the top of the sport away from the PDC.
