Anderson after clinical win over Smith to begin Premier League restart: "Compared to how I've been playing I'm over the moon with how that went"

Gary Anderson began the Premier League restart in the best possible way with a stunning 7-3 victory over Michael Smith where he averaged 109.
This was flanked on the doubles by 7/8 as he set an early benchmark against Smith - who himself hit 7 180's and a 107 average. 'The Flying Scotsman' who has criticised his game a lot lately despite reaching the World Matchplay final was pleased with not only the performance but his darts.
"It's a very good start," said Anderson. "Compared to how I've been playing I'm over the moon with how that went - the darts were going a lot better than in the World Matchplay.
"I've played with this design before. The darts felt right, the straight barrelled darts were slipping out of my hand but the scallop on these means I can get them in the same place every time."
"Michael missed a few doubles but when he did, I was there on his tail and took them out."

- Many fans had a sour taste in their mouth by the end of this match. Mike was cruising to victory, playing beautiful darts, when the whistling started in earnest, particularly on his doubles. You could see in Mike's face that it was really affecting his concentration. The referee should have asked for order, just to show that the whistling is unacceptable, and Luke Littler could also have done his part to quieten down the crowd instead of "taking full advantage.:" I put that down to his age though. He needs some good advice on this from his management team and/or more seasoned players. It's got to be about who's best on the night, not who is being harassed by the crowd. Luke Littler played well to get back into the game and win, but it was a hollow victory. If he goes on to win the tournament, that triumph too will be tainted because of this match.
