Gary Anderson was dumped out early on at the World Matchplay being defeated by Daryl Gurney and speaking at the recent Target Sports Stars Fishing Championship, he dropped doubts about his future.
"I was at Blackpool was I?" joked Anderson to Online Darts. "Yeah I was terrible, but I've just got to laugh about it nowadays. One day hopefully it will come back, if not I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Done it a long time so what will be, will be,"
"Some days I can turn up and play not too bad and other days it's really hard work. At this stage, I'd have to be out seven nights a week playing to get my darts back. It's going to have to be constant practice."
"I've lived 26 years out of a suitcase but when COVID came along and I spent two years at home I loved it. I think I got used to that and preferred that to being away all the time. That's what's happened to me."
These doubts are there mainly due to defending money including at the World Championship and Anderson continues to decide against playing European Tours but is pragmatic.
"We're going to see what happens. We will just keep playing, I can't do all this travelling. I haven't done the Europeans for a while because even back then I was struggling with the travelling. Stick to the ProTours and see what I can do."
Van Gerwen
He also discussed the World Matchplay winner, Michael van Gerwen and how he still believes battle scars have built up meaning he's not the player he was.
"I thought he was playing well before his operation. I still don't think he's the force he was. He's spent the past year and a half getting beat a lot, that takes effect as well. If you're not winning games that you used to, you go up there thinking am I going to win this game. Where as before it's I'm winning this game."
