Anderson snatches draw against Wade with blockbuster 156 checkout as Premier League Darts opener continues

The opening night of the 2021 Premier League Darts continues with a third consecutive draw seeing Gary Anderson and James Wade share the spoils.

Anderson produced a showstopping 156 checkout to snatch a point against Wade - who was a late replacement for Gerwyn Price and was waiting to pounce and claim a win.

Another high quality tie which saw both players average 98 and six 180's from 'The Machine'. Will Michael van Gerwen and Dimitri van den Bergh have the same draw fate to end the night?

Wade didn't take long to find his stride with a 67 checkout after a 180 to hold and go 1-0 up.

Anderson could have been 2-0 down with Wade missing double 20 for a 106 checkout break and the former pinned double five to level.

It was the reverse on Wade's throw as Anderson missed three darts to break and Wade was off the hook at 2-1 up. Anderson made no mistake next time with a 52 checkout to make it level at 2-2.

Anderson made a mess of 90 and Wade in typical fashion pinned a 96 checkout last dart on double 19 to move back ahead at 3-2.

It was a fourth 180 for Wade as he broke Anderson's throw with an 87 checkout to make it 4-2. Wade hit a 180 to leave himself on 32 but didn't get a shot though as Anderson broke back to put it back on throw at 4-3.

But this was restored to a two leg cushion with Anderson missing further darts to this time level at 4-4. Wade stepped in for a 44 checkout on tops to make it 5-3.

A 180 for Anderson to leave 41 saw him look to break back again and despite missing two at double 20, Wade couldn't pounce on the 117 and Anderson was back to make it 5-4.

A 180 in the requisite leg was confounded for Wade as he missed four darts to clinch a point and Anderson made it 5-5.

Anderson missed a dart at double 20 for a guaranteed point and Wade pounced himself with a 96 checkout to hold and make it 6-5.

But despite that, Anderson produced a blockbuster 156 checkout with Wade sat on 80 to claim both points and so it was a third consecutive draw.
