Nathan Aspinall survived a thriller in the opening round of the Bahrain Darts Masters. 'The Asp' fell behind 5-3, but still managed to turn that lopsided situation around in a 6-5 victory.
Aspinall did have the good fortune that Lourence Ilagan missed two match darts. "I started off well but he couldn't miss a double and he put me under pressure," Aspinall recalled in his post-match interview with the PDC.

"As I always do, I found a way to win and I think I pulled out three fantastic legs at the end. I'm very happy to get the win and it's a big day tomorrow."
Aspinall had plenty of kind words for his opponent. "Lourence is a fantastic player who's been around for many years and I knew I had a tough game," he concluded. "The inclusion of the Asian Tour players has been great and they've shown how good their standard is."
Aspinall now has the unenviable task of facing teenage darting sensation, Luke Littler in the quarter-finals.
