Asada lost the first seven legs but defeated Brown in a tiebreak set to reach the Last 32 of the PDC World Championship for the first time.
Brown cleaned up the first set to put Asada all at sea after the opening stanza; with the Isle of Wight ace claiming it in consecutive legs.
Asada's woes continued as he busted his score; allowing Brown to break and lead and from there he cleaned up the set going two sets on the bounce.
Asada didn't get off the mark till the next set; when he levelled proceedings at 1-1. This proved a catalyst for the Japanese ace who took out 76 to move 2-1 up with a break of throw and from there he claimed the set as the comeback began.
Brown missed the bull in the next set two legs running; Asada broke and doubled his lead in set four. This allowed Asada to tie the match up at 2-2 as he extended his run to six out of the last seven legs.
It went to a decider as a result and despite being tied up at 1-1; Asada made a fatal error in finishing allowing Brown a free run at a 45 checkout and he gave a fist bump to the crowd as he went 2-1 up and one away from victory.
Despite that, Asada sent it all the way and claimed a break of throw to go one away on throw from victory which he claimed with a 76 checkout.
