Simon Whitlock is successfully through to the third round at the 2020 PDC World Championship after claiming a straight sets victory over Harry Ward.

Whitlock dropped only two legs en route against the ranking winner who was playing only his second game on the Alexandra Palace stage.
Whitlock eased to the first set 3-1 as Ward failed to settle into the match. This was with an average of 88 but only 27 percent on the doubles so far.
He continued this into the next set claiming an early break as well as his first 180 as he went 2-0 up and he won it in consecutive legs as he hit a 112 checkout to make it 2-0 and go one away from an easy victory.
The Wizard hit a 100 checkout to lead in the next set and went one away as he won eight out of the first nine legs with no resistance coming from Ward.
Ward halved the deficit but had nothing more from there; as Whitlock claimed the victory to move through to the Last 32.
