Lisa Ashton has dominated the PDC Women's Series once more this season continuing her run of winning a title on every day played in these tournaments with seven overall in 2022. She now hopes to convert that into glory at the Women's World Matchplay.
“I’m showing that there is no age barrier in darts,” said Ashton.
“I know I’m one of the older players on the circuit, but you just have to keep going, because even at my age, everything is possible.”
In 2020 and 2021 she had a PDC Tour Card and during this period she won against Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Dimitri van den Bergh and Adrian Lewis, among others. In addition, she became the first lady ever to hit a 100+ average in a televised tournament.
The four-time women's world champion has grown accustomed to the spotlight from the PDC after three appearances at Alexandra Palace, but the chance to take the iconic stage of the Winter Gardens at the Women's World Matchplay is a special moment for Ashton.
“I have always wanted to play at the Winter Gardens, so it’s absolutely fantastic. I’m hoping my home town get behind me," she added.
“The opportunities the PDC have given us are fantastic. It’s going to be absolutely amazing. I just can’t wait to get to Blackpool now.”
