Lisa Ashton has won the first tournament on the PDC
Women's Series in Barnsley. The four-time ladies World Champion defeated
Fallon Sherrock 6-3 in the final.
Ashton was simply unstoppable, just like on Friday during the ladies qualifier for the Grand Slam of Darts. She only dropped two legs in her five matches en route to the final. Sherrock booked hard-fought victories over Lorraine Winstanley (4-3) and Deta Hedman (5-4), while Hedman also missed four match-darts.
There was not many difference between the two Englishwomen in the first six legs, as both players managed to break their opponent's throw once. Then Ashton made a very strong acceleration as The Lancashire Rose hit two 12-dart legs - including a stunning 170 finish - to win three legs on the spin for the win.
This two-day event consists of four tournaments. Players can earn prize money with their results, which count towards the Women's Series Order of Merit. The top two ladies after four events receive an invite for the PDC World Darts Championship.
