After a tumultuous period where he has had well documented injury problems and didn't know whether he would throw a dart professionally again,
Nathan Aspinall has sealed a second PDC ranking title of 2022.
Claiming
Players Championship 22, he saw off Krzysztof Ratajski in an 8-3 victory to back up victory over Matt Campbell at PC13.
His resurgence continues with 8/9 on the doubles as he exclaimed a loud roar showing how much it means to the former UK Open champion. An eighth PDC ranking title goes the way of the Stockport ace.
An 11-darter saw Aspinall break and go 2-0 up. He followed it up with a 12-dart 47 checkout on double 16 to make it 3-0 and hold.
A 52 checkout saw Ratajski finally get off the mark at 3-1. A timely 180 saw Aspinall stave off a break threat and hit double 14 for a 4-1 lead.
He left it handy on 70 and when Ratajski missed 117 to hold on double 20, Aspinall broke again to go 5-1 up.
Ratajski spurned a chance off 50 to hold and Aspinall pinned 64 to go 7-1 and was throwing for the match. But he couldn’t produce and Ratajski broke back for 7-2.
A 65 checkout saw Ratajski seal back-to-back legs at 7-3. Ratajski could not pin 104 though and Aspinall again looked at match darts at 58 hitting double 20 first time.
