The Players Championship season will consist of 30 tournaments in 2022 and the PDC has made £3m available for this. 100,000 will be distributed at each tournament this year, an increase of £25,000 from 2021.
PDC Tour Card holders are allowed to participate in these tournaments. They will have to make it to at least the second round of a tournament to be able to take home prize money. Reaching the second round yields 750 pounds. By making it to the last 32 players will earn £1250, followed by £2,000 for the players in the last 16.
The quarter-finalists will receive £3,000, while the semi-finalists are already sure of £4,000. The losing finalist will receive £8,000 and the winner will take home £12,000.
Prize money won counts towards the Order of Merit, ProTour and Players Championship Order of Merit. The Pro Tour Order of Merit allows players to qualify for the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and the World Darts Championship. The top 16 of this ranking claim European Tour seeding as well as the Players Championship one is used for the Finals in Minehead.
