Nathan Aspinall has added a second win of his
Premier League Darts campaign by seeing off
James Wade 7-4 fending off a late comeback from 'The Machine'.
Aspinall went 6-2 up and assured himself of a point but from there saw Wade come close to finding a potential draw but in the end 'The Asp' prevailed in a 7-4 win with a 96.5 average and 53% on the doubles en route.
Aspinall produced a brilliant start to the tie heading into a 3-1 lead early on with a 104 average.
Wade in the requisite leg missed three darts at double to break back and Aspinall punished with a 102 checkout to head 4-1 up.
This was a similar story in the next leg as Wade missed double 12 for a 141 and Aspinall hit the same target to head 5-1 up.
Wade got another leg back but but went to the point of no return with Aspinall missing double eight for a 136 only to return himself after Wade missed two darts from 52 and it was at least a point at 6-2 up.
But while he could get a point, the nerves potentially started to show as Aspinall missed a match dart at double 13 and Wade took out 101 to claw it back to 6-4.
But the deficit proved too much to claw back as Aspinall got over the line from there denying a late charge for a point.
