Wright edges past Anderson to claim first win of 2021 Premier League Darts campaign

Peter Wright has his first win of the 2021 Premier League Darts in a battle of World Champions and World Cup teammates against Gary Anderson in which he prevailed 7-4.

This was with a 100 average and a high checkout of 140 en route for 'Snakebite' who responded to disappointment on Night Two in style with his opening victory.

Wright claimed first blood in the tie punishing two missed doubles from Anderson to hold throw and he went into cruise control from there taking out 60 for a break and consolidating it with a hold to make it 3-0.

Anderson finally got off the mark at 3-1 down but wasn't able to mount a fightback as of yet due to Wright's brilliance with 'Snakebite' smashing in a 140 checkout to make it 4-1.

Anderson continued to add legs with both players holding their throw but Wright's early prowess was bringing him over the line as he hit a second 180 and double 10 to secure at least a point at 6-3 up.

Anderson landed double 16 to keep the match at 6-4 as he looked to rescue a point himself but it was a mere consolation as Wright surged to victory from there.
