The defending back-to-back Grand Slam champion Gerwyn Price is out of the tournament after he couldn't complete a fightback against
Nathan Aspinall who won through a 10-8 winner to end the Last 16 in Coventry.
Price in his group dodged multiple bullets and was lucky at times but it wasn't on his side this time as 'The Asp' booked a tie with Dimitri van den Bergh next up.
It was a high quality start to the tie but Aspinall took the early lead at 3-2 up with two 180's and a 100 average. But when they returned from the break, the Stockport ace cemented his authority making it 5-2 with Price not able to find his scoring with no 180's up to this point.
A 94 checkout for Aspinall put Price further in bother as he went 7-3 down and three legs away from going home. But this is when he dug in.
He took out 70 to hold and make it 7-4 and a break came in with an 87 checkout on the bull making it 7-5. This was capped off with a 105 checkout on two double 20's for a 7-6 deficit.
He hit the front at 8-7 to complete the fightback but Aspinall wasn't done as he wrestled back control of the tie and his own mini fightback was complete as he secured the win.
